Robert Munsch

Robert Munsch is a best-selling author (and natural storyteller) of more than 56 books for children—including The Paper Bag Princes and Love You Forever. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and studied to be a Jesuit priest before deciding to work with children instead. He taught in a variety of nursery schools and daycare centers and discovered he could get the kids to be quiet during nap time by telling them stories. He did this for ten years without thinking he had any special skill, or writing his stories down. In 1975, Munsch and his wife moved to Guelph, Ontario. He wrote 10 stories and sent them to 10 different publishers. Nine said, “No” and one said, “Yes” to a story called “MUD PUDDLE”, which sold 3,000 copies the first year. Several Munsch books are illustrated by Canadian Michael Martchenko.
